Day 2-Computer excitement

The second day of class was going to be a hands-on tutorial on the EBI, DDBJ, annd NCBI web sites. However, the student's wired ethernet connections were inactive, and the new wireless system, which will be great when fully operational, is buggy right now. My ethernet connection was working, but showing how to use a web site via projection screen is not ideal. The best way to learn how to use bioinformatics tools is serious face time with your computer; you can't read a book about how to speak a foreign language :-)

Friday's class, given that the ethernet connections are working, will go through some of the problems in the back of Chapter 2 (problems 2-2 and 2-5). I asked students to keep track of how they approach the problem; I hope we can compare and contrast different strategies.
